Description
The Aerocar I find to be the most god awful plane (or car) ever designed. The idea was to create a plane that after landing could easily be converted to a "normal" road going car that you could drive home with.
Only six were built and it never entered full scale production due to lack of demand - probably because most people would die of shame being seen in one.
One handy feature though was that since it was designed to function as a car, too, it has a reverse gear which allows it to taxi backwards. Try that in your Cessna.
This is the only Aerocar around today that still flies (see it fly: [link]), and has been flown by BBC presenter James May. It's currently located at Kissimmee municipal airport in Florida.
